Hero for Remote Learning Environments

Even when students are away from the physical classroom, Hero provides a variety of ways to support your school and students. Watch this short video to review a few ways to use Hero in virtual, distance, or e-learning environments. Then, check out the additional ideas and resources!

DOCUMENT STUDENT ENGAGEMENT & TOUCH POINTS Create a touch point or contact log behavior code to document interactions with students. Utilize Custom Groups to engage with specific groups of students that may need targeted support. Check students in daily with date and time stamps, or document elapsed time with Hero events. Document specific modes of engagement that qualify as valid proof of attendance. Learn how one virtual school relies on Hero to track student participation and teacher engagement for ADA funding!

REWARD STUDENT PARTICIPATION & REINFORCE EXPECTATIONS Re-frame existing expectations for e-learning environment Award Hero points for participation and/or meeting positive behavior expectations Redeem Hero points for virtual incentives or open your school store at your meal or packet pick-up sites. COMMUNICATE WITH FAMILIES ABOUT STUDENT PROGRESS Send automatic Hero emails to notify parents when students receive Hero points - giving extra kudos to parents for their support at home!  Alert parents when their student has not engaged in online learning or have missing assignments. Let parents and students know how they can log in to their own Hero app to view their Hero points, behavior history, and more. Learn how to set up auto email notifications. MONITOR SCHOOL-WIDE DATA Utilize Daily Activity Report for date/time stamps and engagement trends. View Touch Point logs for all students and staff members. Utilize Compliance, Accrued Records, or Intervention Reports to easily identify disengaged or at-risk students. Utilize School Activity Report to view staff usage and fidelity. TARGET EFFORTS AND PROVIDE TIERED SUPPORT Utilize Custom Groups to target students by need. Invite or assign specific students to virtual office hours or tutorials on a given date. Comply student 1:1 conferences or office hours. Trigger a call to intervention based on missing assignments or disengagement.
