Implications of Editing a Code
If you have created a code with a progressive matrix and need to make edits, there are several considerations to be aware of:
- If the code's progressive matrix has data tied to it (i.e. students have earned the actions built into the code), you cannot delete an action to update the matrix.
- If you edit/change an action; it will retroactively make the changes. For example: If you change an action (i.e., change lunch detention to after-school detention), your new action (after-school detention) will show as the assigned action even though it was originally logged as a lunch detention.
Best Practice Recommendation
The best practice we recommend for making edits is to deactivate the original code by removing the active check in the setup portal, and then create a new one with the new matrix.
Deleting Actions & Codes
Although you cannot delete an action that has data tied to it, you can delete a code. When you delete a code, you are deleting all of the entries associated with it.
For example:
- Deleting a redemption code would return points to students.
- Deleting a track code would delete all of the entries associated with the code, and no longer be visible on reports or students' behavior history.
